Linxon Germany has been awarded the contract for turnkey delivery of the high voltage substation by TransnetBW GmbH.

The substation is named UW Rheinau and located in southern Germany near to the cities Mannheim and Heidelberg.

As part of the Network Development Plan, the overhead power lines in the Rhein-Neckar-Nordbaden region will be upgraded. The upgrade will see the lines from Weinheim, through GKM and Altlussheim, to Daxlanden transition from 220 kV to 380 kV. To facilitate this upgrade, a new 380 kV facility will be constructed on the existing premises of the Rheinau substation.

Linxon’s scope of delivery consists of 4 x 380 kV AIS bays including associated HV primary (circuit breakers, earthing/disconnecting switches, combined CT/VTs, etc.) and secondary equipment (Control & protection, auxiliary power supply, etc) In the EPC scope, Linxon will also deliver engineering, civil works and all site management related activities to ensure safe construction, installation, dismantling of existing equipment, commissioning and handover to the client.

This significant enhancement aims to improve the reliability and capacity of the power supply in the region, ensuring a more robust and efficient energy infrastructure for the future.
