The Sudair PV 380 kV Bulk Supply Point (BSP) expansion is a strategic project commissioned by Saudi Electricity Company (SEC) . This expansion enables the evacuation of additional green power from the Sudair Solar PV plant, reinforcing Saudi Arabia’s renewable energy ambitions and supporting Vision 2030 targets under the Saudi Green Initiative.
The Sudair Solar PV Independent Power Plant is one of the Kingdom’s largest renewable projects, generating approximately 1,500 MW to power around 185,000 households. Managing incremental power from this second expansion requires robust grid infrastructure to maintain stability and efficiency. Expanding an existing 380 kV BSP demands careful logistical coordination to avoid disruptions to current power flows and ongoing operations.
Linxon’s scope includes complete engineering and design activities such as load flow analysis, protection reviews, GIS integration, and civil and structural works for new equipment bays and foundations. The project will deliver additional 380 kV GIS bays, reactors or coupling equipment, along with advanced control and protection systems and auxiliary gear. This upgrade ensures operational efficiency and scalability, offering a cost-effective, space-saving solution that prepares the grid for future renewable power injections.
By strengthening the grid and enabling large-scale solar integration, the Sudair BSP expansion marks another milestone in Saudi Arabia’s clean energy transition and Linxon’s commitment to delivering reliable, sustainable power infrastructure.
