Linn Marquardt has personally experienced the opportunities that spring from having a growth mindset and pursuing continual learning. After taking a career break to study, she came to work for Linxon as a consultant and then became one of our employees in late 2020. After nearly a year in this role, she is highly appreciative of the open and down-to-earth environment at Linxon.

“I have never joined a company and so quickly felt as comfortable as I have at Linxon”, Linn reflects. For her, the biggest priority in the workplace is to be able to feel comfortable – not only with the work assignments but also with the culture and interaction with colleagues. “I think everyone has a need to feel appreciated for what they do and to feel like a valued member of the company,” she adds. An open, diverse and inclusive environment is an important part of what makes Linxon a special place to work. This is reflected, for example, by our promotion of gender equality, with 40% of our executive management team being women. We also follow practices that include equal opportunities in recruitment, flexibility with regard to working from home, upskilling and reskilling programmes as well as care for health and mental wellbeing. And Linn underscores this: “Although we all have different backgrounds and experiences, you feel welcomed and part of the Linxon family. I think, from my perspective, that the spirit is unpretentious and that suits my personality very well.”

New professional beginnings

When it comes to Linn’s own background, her path has not always been linear, but has taken the twists and turns that contribute to her valuable experience. Back in 2013, she was working in Västerås as a website manager for a newly started online beauty shop. “At the same time, I was in charge of managing the purchases to the store, online shop and salon. After a while, purchasing felt like my calling so after four years I decided to get a deeper understanding for the profession and went back to studying,” she explains.

After taking a career break to complete her studies and travel, she started working within the purchasing function at Linxon. In her current role, she defines the procurement strategy for different projects by managing the Tender Sourcing & Project Procurement Plan. Her job involves preparing requests for proposal, negotiating with suppliers and ensuring orders are placed and delivered to the project.

“I want to create good customer relationships, but my main focus is to invest heavily in supplier relationships after the pandemic,” she explains. “Savings and quality are my highest priority so for the future, I aim to work even more strategically on better relationships and more effective workflows.”

Learning as a driving force

Linn’s learning journey has not ended with her arrival in Linxon. Quite the opposite: she describes working for the company as an “unexplored opportunity” that excited her. She had not previously worked in the energy sector and she felt “it would be exciting to get into a new industry with lots of development opportunities”. One of these is expanding her technical knowledge. This would then enable her to see the bigger picture. “This is my driving force: to keep learning more and develop.”

Another source of learning is her colleagues, with their rich variety of skills, experiences and backgrounds. As she sums up: “What inspires me is people. I feel that I learn something new each day, both from a work perspective but also on a personal level.
