In collaboration with Hitachi Energy and Skanska, we have completed the construction of a 400 kV gas-insulated substation (GIS) in Stockholm to address the city’s growing electricity demands. This advanced substation features cutting-edge technology, including Hitachi Energy Ability Power Transformers and MicroSCADA Pro automation. Its innovative design, partially underground, optimizes urban space while enhancing reliability and sustainability. Bengeworth Road: Pioneering sustainable energy with the London Power Tunnels 2 project

Together with Hitachi Energy, we are building the Bengeworth Road substation as part of the London Power Tunnels 2 (LPT2) project,ensuring a reliable and eco-efficient electricity supply for South London. The innovative EconiQ™ gas-insulated switchgear (GIS),free of sulfur hexafluoride (SF6), is being used to support National Grid’s sustainability goals. We are providing a turnkey solution, including designing, supplying, installing, and commissioning connection bays and modifying existing substations. LPT2 is set to be completed by 2026 and aims to modernize London’s power infrastructure, decrease carbon emissions, and meet future energy needs.

Bühl: Upgrading Germany’s power grid with advanced 380 kV GIS technology

We upgraded a 380 kV gas-insulated substation (GIS) for TransnetBW in Bühl, southwestern Germany, to facilitate the transmission of wind-generated electricity from the north to southern consumers. The project included comprehensive design, installation, and commissioning of the new substation featuring Hitachi ABB Power Grids’ ELK-3 technology. This substation is crucial to the Baden Rhine Energy Corridor, ensuring a stable and reliable power supply while seamlessly blending into its environment.

Värtan: Transforming Stockholm’s power supply with an innovative urban substation

We are delivering a cutting-edge 220 kV urban compact substation for Ellevio, the leading distribution network operator in Sweden. This project near Värtan harbour and Norra Djurgårdsstaden is Ellevio’s largest to date, showcasing Linxon’s expertise in complex EPC projects. We’re using state-of-the-art Hitachi Energy technology to design the substation, which addresses space constraints and modernizes Stockholm’s grid to meet future demands. This turnkey solution includes advanced indoor switchgears, power transformers, and a new control system, enhancing reliability for 1.5 million residents.
