In Europe, Linxon offers engineering, procurement, management, and construction services for executing large, complex AC power substations and expansions for all six main applications. Linxon’s knowledge of the transmission grid standards and procedures and its unique ability to integrate and implement equipment innovations are key to meeting the needs of our customers. Skanstull: A cutting-edge 400 kV GIS transforming Stockholm’s grid

In collaboration with Hitachi Energy and Skanska, we have completed the construction of a 400 kV gas-insulated substation (GIS) in Stockholm to address the city’s growing electricity demands. This advanced substation features cutting-edge technology, including Hitachi Energy Ability Power Transformers and MicroSCADA Pro automation. Its innovative design, partially underground, optimizes urban space while enhancing reliability and sustainability. Project 2

Bengeworth Road: Pioneering sustainable energy with the London Power Tunnels 2 project

Together with Hitachi Energy, we are building the Bengeworth Road substation as part of the London Power Tunnels 2 (LPT2) project, ensuring a reliable and eco-efficient electricity supply for South London. The innovative EconiQ™ gas-insulated switchgear (GIS), free of sulfur hexafluoride (SF6), is being used to support National Grid’s sustainability goals. We are providing a turnkey solution, including designing, supplying, installing, and commissioning connection bays and modifying existing substations. LPT2 is set to be completed by 2026 and aims to modernize London’s power infrastructure, decrease carbon emissions, and meet future energy needs.

Project 3

Bühl: Upgrading Germany’s power grid with advanced 380 kV GIS technology

We upgraded a 380 kV gas-insulated substation (GIS) for TransnetBW in Bühl, southwestern Germany, to facilitate the transmission of wind-generated electricity from the north to southern consumers. The project included comprehensive design, installation, and commissioning of the new substation featuring Hitachi ABB Power Grids’ ELK-3 technology. This substation is crucial to the Baden Rhine Energy Corridor, ensuring a stable and reliable power supply while seamlessly blending into its environment.

Project 4

Ringhals: A nuclear power grid enhanced with advanced 400 kV AIS

We have successfully commissioned two new 400 kV air-insulated switchgear (AIS) substations at the Ringhals nuclear power plant southwest of Gothenburg, Sweden. This complex project, initiated in early 2020, required meticulous planning and high safety standards to replace existing equipment while maintaining power generation and minimizing outages. The substations, equipped with advanced ABB technology, including disconnector circuit breakers (DCBs) and an IEC 61850-compliant protection and control system, connect reactors 3 and 4 to the transmission grid.
