TransnetBW has commenced construction work for the Hochrhein project, thereby ensuring an efficient and future-oriented grid in the region.
With a symbolic groundbreaking ceremony, the transmission system operator TransnetBW is marking the beginning of the substation works in Beuren. The Beuren substation represents an important step towards sustainable and future-proof transmission lines.
Linxon is providing the full EPC scope for this project. Alongside the existing 220-kilovolt (kV) switchyard, a new 380 kV open-air insulated switchyard including a control building will be erected. The dismantling of the existing switchgear will occur in phases, alternating with connecting the new one, to maintain a secure power supply throughout the entire construction period. Completion of the substation is scheduled for spring 2027.
“We are proud to be part of this upgrade, which is part of the German Grid Development Plan 2037 (Netzentwicklungsplan – NEP). Here, we are contributing to the power grid modernization required to reinforce the German transmission grid and support the Energy Transition (Energiewende)” said Stefan Reisacher, CEO of Linxon.
