Powering for a brighter future: Linxon’s accomplishment in the Ghazal GIS expansion project

November 22, 2023

Linxon’s role in the Ghazal GIS expansion project, extending vital power infrastructure for the South Ghawar Gas separation plant, showcases our commitment to enhancing energy access in remote areas. This accomplishment underscores our dedication to building infrastructure to power the world.

Consistently aiming for excellence, Linxon is pleased to have played a pivotal role in successfully executing the Ghazal 230 kV Gas Insulated Substation (GIS) expansion project. This significant undertaking aligns seamlessly with the Saudi Electricity Company’s short-term plan to reinforce network stability across various stations.

Our mission was clear: extend the existing Ghazal substation to provide essential power to the South Ghawar Gas Separation Plant (GSP), actively contributing to the increased utilization of natural gas in the nation and meeting the additional line termination requirement in the existing substation. Our commitment also included remote end modifications for Ghazal and South Ghawar GSP.

As we fast forward to the present, we are proud to announce the successful energization of the Ghazal GIS expansion project. We have consistently adhered to the scheduled timeline, managed budget constraints, and steadfastly delivered the desired quality. This project, located in a remote area approximately 150 kilometres from the nearest city, was a collaborative effort between Linxon and the Saudi Electricity Company. The project involved a range of engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) works with the goal of expanding an existing gas compression plant power substation.

” I would like to express my heartfelt gratitude and congratulations to everyone who played a significant role in making this achievement possible. From the dedication of our team members to the solid collaboration of our partner organizations, your contributions have been invaluable.” – said Hassan Merhi, Linxon Hub Managing Director for Middle East & Africa.

Our special thanks go to the qualified engineers with whom we joined forces with the Saudi Electricity Company, whose expertise greatly facilitated the project’s success. As we close this chapter, we are not only proud of our achievement but also cognizant of the broader impact of our work. Energy is the driving force of progress, and our contribution to expanding access to natural gas indicates our commitment to an equitable and brighter future for everyone.
