Press Release: Linxon energizes Saudi Arabia’s new Tanajib substation

February 13, 2024

Contracted by Samsung C&T Corporation and the Tanajib Cogeneration Power Company (TCPC), the 380 kV gas insulated substation (GIS) in the Eastern province is now operational

Energized in late December 2023, Linxon played a comprehensive role in delivering a new substation for end clients Aramco, Marubeni and Taqa. Specializing in end-to-end services encompassing design, manufacture, supply, delivery, installation and commissioning of Hitachi Energy power products, Linxon’s involvement included a full engineering, procurement, construction and commissioning solution.

“We wish to thank Samsung C&T and the Tanajib Cogeneration Power Company for the confidence they have shown in Linxon,” said Hassan Merhi, Managing Director for Linxon Middle East & Africa. “We are delighted to contribute to the further development of the Saudi energy grid.”

This latest milestone underscores Linxon’s commitment to meeting the region’s energy infrastructure needs. The Tanajib cogeneration and desalination offers an estimated net capacity of 940 MW of electricity generation, steam output of 1,084 tons/hour and desalinated water output of 23,856 cubic metres/day. This new substation connects that plant to Tanajib oil and gas facilities in the development area owned by Saudi Aramco.

In successfully completing the project, an impressive safety record was achieved, with no working time lost to injury over twenty-one months underscoring Linxon’s commitment to a robust health and safety culture.

In October 2023, Linxon opened its regional headquarters in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

“We are glad to be part of Vision 2030,” said Hassan Merhi at its inauguration. “The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has always been a major market for us with a lot of growth potential for the years to come.”
