Standing together: Supporting hurricane Helene relief and promoting sustainability

November 19, 2024

When Hurricane Helene struck Western North Carolina, it left a lasting impact, and our community continues to work through the challenges months later.

The journey of rebuilding has highlighted our shared strength, unity, and resilience. At Linxon Americas, we are proud to join efforts with a wide range of organizations—including the Red Cross, Salvation Army, local nonprofits, religious groups, and dedicated volunteers. A special thank you goes to El Centro Hispano, whose involvement in this clothing drive has amplified its reach and ensured donations get to those most in need.

As winter approaches, the importance of providing warm clothing and essentials to those affected by Hurricane Helene cannot be overstated. This initiative has seen incredible contributions from individuals, businesses, and organizations alike. The collective response reflects the heart of our community—a commitment to stepping forward and helping neighbors in need.

The role of sustainability

This effort also aligns with America Recycles Day, serving as a reminder that donating gently used clothing not only supports those in need but also reduces waste.

Did you know that the average American discards approximately 70 pounds of clothing and textiles each year, contributing significantly to landfill waste (Farmers’ Almanac)? By donating unused clothing, we’re not only assisting those affected by the hurricane but also reducing environmental impact and promoting a more sustainable future.

Thank you to everyone who has contributed to this effort, from individual volunteers to local organizations. The road to recovery is far from over, but together we’re making a meaningful impact for those still affected from the effects of Hurricane Helene. Let’s continue to stand united for a stronger, more compassionate, and sustainable future.
