Linxon in Bahrain has successfully energized the Durrat Al Bahrain 220/66/11 kV BSP substation, part of a major project known as “220 kV & 66 kV Transmission Development 2012-2016”, for the customer Electricity & Water Authority – Kingdom of Bahrain. The new substation will help to reinforce the strength of the Bahraini transmission grid.
This was the seventh substation successfully energized out of a total of 7, since the start of the project in July 2018.
As part of this project, Linxon provided the complete engineering, procurement, installation, testing and commissioning of 220 kV Gas Insulated Switchgear (GIS), 66 kV GIS, 21/11 kV switchgears, integrated control system (ICS), control & protection system, high voltage/medium voltage and low voltage cables and relevant terminations, auxiliary power supplies, including house transformer 11 kV/400 V, standby diesel generator and earthing/earth grid works.
“This important milestone was achieved with great teamwork during challenging pandemic times. A special thanks goes to the entire field operation team for completing the work in line with high HSE and quality standards, this makes the project a benchmark for Linxon operations globally”, said Paolo Pozzi, Linxon Head of Project Office Bahrain.
